The Echo Cardiovascular Sonographer independently performs professional level assessments and a variety of non-invasive studies using ultrasound and related diagnostic technology as appropriate and records the results and clinical preliminary impressions as indicated. The results of these exams are used to direct the course of patient care. The sonographer encounters difficult problems related to examination evaluations daily and must resolve them with limited supervision. There is daily contact with professionals and families. This position is a full performance Cardiovascular Sonographer with knowledge of cardiac and peripheral vascular anatomy, physiology, and disease. All examinations are performed within standards protocols.

Location: 325 Broad St. Sumter, SC 29150

Schedule: This position will work 4 days per week from Monday - Thursday 7:30 - a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with no weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Always ask for at least two forms of identification, (name, DOB)

  • Instructing the patients to undergo the appropriate positions to get accurate images

  • Keeping equipment in quality working order

  • Obtaining images for any areas requested by the Cardiologist

  • Keeping track of patient records

  • Assisting Cardiologist and physicians in the process of understanding and evaluating images

  • Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process works

  • Positioning patients properly to obtain echo and vascular scans

  • Setting the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged

  • Applying their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process to help the physician diagnose problems

  • Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped

  • Apply HIPPA to every patient

  • Putting reports in the patient chart after the Radiologist has read the images, and the report is dictated

  • Check each patient’s order before scanning the patient, if there are any questions with the order, make sure to ask the ordering physician

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Ultrasonography Program

  • Registered in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound (RCS, RDCS, RVT, RVS, CCI, ARMDS)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of cardiovascular imaging experience preferred or new graduated could be considered depending on amount of clinical hours
