COLUMBUS COMMUNITY CENTER Employment Specialist (part-time) in SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Hours: Part Time

Pay: $19.50/hr.

$850 bonus payout schedule:

$200.00 after onboarding and initial training completed

$200.00 after 30 days and training completed

$450.00 after 6 months of employment 

 

This Employment Specialist (ES) will work with EPR clients. They will perform job coaching before employment to maximize opportunities for success on the job, working on specific goals to allow them to work in the community. Upon the client receiving a competitive integrated job in the community, the Employment Specialist will understand the complexities and tasks of the position our job seeker has obtained. This includes working with the client for several shifts at the beginning of employment and attending all orientation and onboarding meetings. Having support fade over the next weeks and months will occur as the client becomes more adept and accomplished in their tasks at their place of employment. The ES will design and implement customized, one-on-one job coaching to suit the needs of each person we serve.

This ES will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with companies of all types and sizes and developing ways to promote, encourage, and accommodate job seekers with disabilities as a part of their workforce. This will include developing partnerships with targeted businesses and presenting the concept of Supported Employment in effective ways to allow people with disabilities the opportunity to work, using their natural abilities and talents. The ES will help the job seeker create a resume, perform mock interviews, assist with applying for jobs, attend interviews with the job seeker, help them complete paperwork, and attend any orientations if an employment offer is accepted.  

What you will do:

·         Effectively present the mission and purposes of the Columbus Community Center and its many programs while highlighting the services of the Supported Employment department to elicit interest and participation.

·         Work directly with the client in a production setting under the EPR code for the duration of that code and transition the client to Competitive Integrated Employment while continuing their work with the client through their time in Vocational Rehabilitation.

·         Conduct site analyses of varied business types and develop a business profile including, but not limited to, unmet needs, work area observations, corporate culture analysis, and workplace expectations.

·         Complete and deliver all applicable information for monthly billing cycles, including a written report on each client and their progress/challenges, with high profe ssionalism.  

·         Effectively manage the ongoing relationships with business partners.

·         Develop and complete onsite job analysis before the job/internship begins.

·         Identify and cultivate natural supports within individual job sites.

·         Inform Supported Employment team on participating businesses' trends, needs, and expectations.

·         Participate in department planning meetings to ensure the needs of individual job seekers are met.

·         Facilitate the candidacy of each job seeker by presenting skills, talents, and positive attributes to potential Business Partners.

·         Communicate business needs and expectations to all Supported Employment staff; ensure compliance with business expectations and needs.

·         Demonstrate strong oral, written, analytical, research, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

·         Have competency in Microsoft Office platform and data management.

What you need to succeed:

·         Bachelor's degree is highly preferred with a focus in Social Work, Special Education, or a related field.

·         At least two years of experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities in a vocational, residential, or employment program is highly required.

·         Must be at least 18 years old.

·         Must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.

·         Must pass an initial criminal background and then annually after that.

o   Must have completed ACRE certification within 6 months of hire and complete all training requirements associated with this position annually after that.
