Job Summary

As a critical member of the Business Scholars Experience, the Program Coordinator works with the Director and Program Manager to support programming and events for the Business Scholars Experience and Eccles Ambassador program at the David Eccles School of Business.

The position requires extensive interaction with current students, alumni, faculty, vendors, and other school and university staff. This person must have strong communication and project management skills, be an effective team player, and be an excellent organizer to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. The Program Coordinator supports a cohort of incoming first-year students under the direction of the Business Scholars Experience leadership. The coordinator oversees day to day program operations of the office.

  2. Assist in managing the Eccles Ambassador program, including hiring and onboarding, running weekly ambassador meetings, managing schedules/office hours, and developing and running training and team-building events.

  3. Offer support for the Business Scholars class and provide administrative support for the Business Scholars Experience, including but not limited to payroll, ordering supplies, reimbursements, purchases, scheduling classrooms, and student registration.

  4. Assist with new programs, graduation events, and other projects as needed.

  5. Maintain accurate and detailed event records and collect records of suggested improvements for future events.

  6. Cultivate relationships with internal and external partners, including alums, local and domestic companies, industry professionals, and other members of the University of Utah.

  7. Responsible for reconciling bills and billing them to the appropriate account. Will work with the team on budget tracking and evaluation for events and other projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

  • Experience in effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in offering high-level, fast-paced customer service in a student services environment that prioritizes the success of a student in their approach to academic advising

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in an organized manner. Produce high-quality work with speed and accuracy

  • Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills and the ability to relate well to working professionals

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
