Overview:Reporting to the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety, the Sr. Safety Manager is responsible for providing program development and support to each facility in the quest to achieve a ZERO incident culture. The Sr. Safety Manager has the responsibility of implementing programs across the enterprise to ensure compliance and performance in the elimination of incidents.

Job Description:Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor safety legislation and ensure facility safety staff is kept up to date on new regulations

• Participate in regulatory safety inspections

• Ensure compliance with minimal safety & health standards

• Analyze job duties of associates to reduce work stressors and injuries

• Re-enforce the Zero incident culture by implementation of fresh programs

• Ensure safety staff is current on training needs and abilities to obtain Zero incident culture

• Conduct root cause analysis of critical incidents

• Produce reports and document for leadership to support Zero incident culture

• Ensure maintenance of documentation for critical incidents

• Work closely with direct reports to ensure proper usage of capital, operational and training budgets

• Work closely with direct reports to promote change to a Zero incident culture making safety instinctive in all employees

• Manage a staff of Safety Managers located at each facility

• Communicate effectively with management on safety concerns

• Develop training programs and conduct training on special safety topics

• Participate in staff meetings

• Be able to predict potential emergency situations and create procedures to reduce or eliminate the situation

• Conduct statistical analysis

• Special projects and other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or related field

• 7-10 years’ experience in Safety preferred, or comparable experience

• Excellent communication skills with a proven track record in written communication, with ability to communicate with various levels of management and employees

• Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

• Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel and powerpoint

• Must be able to work professionally and independently, with little supervision, and ability to multitask

• Critical thinker and listener, with strong organizational skills

• Up to 50% travel required
