Hands N Paws Animal Assistance Animal Care Assistant in Othello, Washington

  • We are looking to hire a Part-Time Animal Care Assistant. 
  • Traits: We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, hard-working, organized, motivated and compassionate. Someone who is able to work fast paced with a team and also independently with a positive attitude. The ability to remain calm in stressful situations is helpful.
  • Description/Hours: Part-Time position available. Schedule will be 4- 5 hour days with exact hours and days to be determined.  
  • Wage: Starting wage is $18.00/hr 
  • Duties: Cleaning and caring for dogs.  Basic animal care and treatment including- feeding, walking, cleaning cages, enrichment, vaccinating, providing medical per protocols and veterinary recommendations and maintaing pet records. Maintaining good communication Animal Control and other team members. Client Communication- obtain pet background, assisting with adopter and owner education. Shelter sanitation and cleaning duties- mopping floors, emptying garbages, cleaning dishes and cleaning kennels, following proper protocol for infectious exposure etc. Prepping, cleaning and stocking. Computer Skills- become proficient with our shelter management software.
  • Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma/GED is required. Good physical stamina- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend over, and crouch. Be able to safely manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 40 pounds. Endure standing and walking on hard floor surfaces. Must have basic math, reading, spelling and writing skills. Intermediate computer proficiency, capacity to work well during distressing situations, and excellent time management and multitasking abilities are important. Applicant needs to have a clean driving record.  We prefer applicants to be experienced with handling/restraining animals but it is not required. Previous formal animal care experience and/or being bilingual is a plus.
