Bachman's Inc. Safety Coordinator in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Safety Coordinator 

Salaried Position 

Job Duties:

  • Ensure applicable laws, regulations, and requirements are communicated and implemented to protect employees and customers

  • Coordinates, maintains and updates the company’s safety pr ogram

  • Based on Bachman’s and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations you will plan, coordinate, implement and assess accident, fire prevention and OSHA programs

  • Develops and recommends new procedures and approaches to safety based on reports of incidents, accidents, and other data gathered from site visits

  • Ensure that all the documentation concerning the safety department is up-to-date including tracking current safety trainings

  • Coordinates training programs and conducts on-site training for all employees. Recommends educational trainings as needed

  • Ensures that proper safety training is given to all new hire orientations

  • Performs safety inspections of all locations on a regular basis to detect possible OSHA code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures as required

  • Work with Manager and Operations Managers on documenting findings and corrective actions

  • Stays up to date with current regulations through OSHA, Federal and State approved safety education courses, and maintains familiarity with standards, regulations and enforcement procedures

  • Assists with all inspections, surveys and consultations performed by OSHA, Federal, State and any local authorities when on site

  • Coordinates purchasing of safely supplies for all departments across Bachman’s

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years college or vocational training with emphasis in safety related studies

  • Previous work experience of two - three years in safety and/or environmental field

  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, i.e., Right to Know, Lock Out Tag Out, EPA Title III Community Right to Know, PCA/Hazardous Waste Management, EPA/Workers Protection Standards, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations

  • Experience with site work and equipment safety

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability

  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to positively influence

  • Demonstrated experience in group presentations and training.  Ability to provide effective training through multiple communication tools

  • Able to respond in a professional and confidential manner in difficult situations

  • Maintain flexibility in hours and remain on-call due to safety issues

  • Ability to maneuver quickly through a crowd of people, or around, through, over/under objects, or from one end of the complex to another

  • Must be accepted as insurable with Bachman’s insurance carrier following an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and compliance with Bachman’s published Safe Driver Standard

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time

Schedule:

  • M-F anytime between 7am-6pm

  • Occasional weekends and holidays
