US Coast Guard Nonappropriated Funds - NAF Cashier Checker (Leader) in Kodiak, Alaska

[Location:[ Kodiak, AK MWR Golf Course

**[Season, April through October. Incumbent will be on Leave Without Pay (LWOP) from November-March. Incumbents must also be 21 years or older due to liquor sales.

[DUTIES[: [Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge and help with the selection of merchandise. React to all concerns of customers quickly with a sense of importance. May assist store management team in training employees on all cash register and front-end duties and will provide input on employee evaluations. Operates a cash register, accepts cash, personal checks, credit cards, etc. Prepares, verifies and issues change funds as required. Collects cash receipts, cash register tapes, checks, credit cards receipt, and other supporting documentation. Compares register tapes with Daily Activity Report and investigates and discrepancies, Prepares and maintain cash overage and shortage records for each sales cashier daily. Responsible for the control and security of change fund, safe and cash registers.

[Performs full range of cash management duties to include disbursement, examination, disposition, and safeguarding of cash and checks. Ensures that all funds are accounted for, reconciling any discrepancies, preparing bank deposits, and balancing retained funds. May be responsible for ATM funds calling bank for change funds.

[Maintains current dishonored check listing, conducts follow-up investigations, collects dishonored check payments; prepares cashiers report and notifies supervisor of any suspected irregularities.

[Coordinates matters of mutual concern with management and customers such as prices, availability, and condition of merchandise. Assist customers, authorizes returns and exchanges and resolves customer complaints with tact and diplomacy; Follow all policies regarding Loss Prevention. Be aware and proactive regarding shrink and the Alert Line; Follow all established safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements.

[Perform other related duties as assigned to include housekeeping, merchandising, and stocking of merchandise. Key holder, opening and closing of store as required. Will be required to work weekends.

  1. Must be 21 or older.
  2. Prior retail experience in the receipt, disbursement, deposit, custody, or other processing of cash items, which includes direct handling of cash items, use of cash accountability control methods, and operation of cash register.
  3. Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

  1. Previous retail supervisory experience in the performance of the above referenced duties and/or
  2. Current USCG NAF cashier with at least 6 months experience as a USCG NAF cashier.
