Galway Office

Rent The Runway established its European Technology Hub in Galway in April 2019. Based in the historic Claddagh area of the city, the growing team in Galway tackles core technology challenges and influences the next generation of services critical to Rent The Runway’s success and continued growth.

The Galway office is Rent the Runway's first international office outside the US and enables the company to significantly expand its Software Engineering, Product Development, Machine Learning Engineering and Data Science footprint. Rent The Runway’s Galway-based employees have the opportunity to grow their careers across several roles and career paths in Technology.

About the Role:

As aData Engineer,you will play an integral role in setting up and monitoring the health of data ingestion and transformation pipelines, as well as managing and optimizing our Snowflake instance. You will provide guidance and collaborate with upstream teams to address data governance concerns and requirements. You'll have the chance to collaborate with exceptionally skilled individuals and enhance your expertise. You will gain experience working in a wide range of technologies pulling data in from a variety of sources, including operational data stores like MySQL and MongoDB; web and mobile event tracking logs; internal and 3rd party APIs; streaming data sets; FTP transfers, and more.

What You’ll Do:

• Createnew data ingestion and transformation pipelinesusing dbt, Python, and Prefect

• Manage theinfrastructureand resources for data processing and storage

• Collaborate with cross-functional teamsincluding data scientists, business intelligence and machine learning engineers to capture their requirements and deliver solutions to meet their needs

• Promote dataquality standardsto ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of data

• Produce and maintaincomprehensive documentationincluding documentation of architecture, data dictionary, models, pipelines and lineage.

About You:

• 3+ yearsin a data-professional related capacity (Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Engineer, etc.).

• You have expert-levelSQLknowledge

• Experience usingdbtto transform and test data pipelines

• You write clean, testablePythoncode and have experience deploying to a production environment

• You have extensive experience using workfloworchestration toolssuch asPrefect, Airflow or similar

• Experience using cloud-based datawarehousing platformssuch asSnowflake, BigQuery or similar

• Enjoy learning new technologies and helping others do the same

• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with BI tools likeLooker or Tableauis an advantageYou will have an interest in acquiring a skill set required for “Data Platform” work (i.e. cloud infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and terraform)
