Responsibilities
- Interact with clients and staff members in a manner that is respectful and empowering
- Consistent and dependable attendance
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings, program meetings, and trainings
- Present a professional demeanor to the community through appearance, communication, and presentation
Essential Functions
- Create and maintain excel file with case data to merge onto legal pleadings
- Legal writing for review and use by staff attorneys
- Input and maintain information for grant reports and prepare as necessary for review
- Scanning case files and requests from attorneys
- Create and maintain case files (electronic and hard copy) including filing pleadings
- Complete required state forms and pleadings for filing
- Manage service of process as requested to include required paperwork and tracking
- Draft, prepare, and send written correspondence for attorneys
- Notarize
- Court preparation and trial document/content review
- Client intake paperwork to include auditing for completeness, input and tracking
- Assist in calendaring on joint attorney calendars
- Transcription of legal proceedings
- Other minor clerical duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Certificate in Paralegal studies or closely related field; job experience may be used in lieu of education
- Accurate typing at 75+ WPM and excellent editing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles
- Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Valid AK Drivers License
- Ability to pass background check
- Commitment to the agencys mission and goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field
- Three years of experience as a paralegal
- One year experience in Westlaw or Lexis Nexis
