Job Profile Summary

Perform and direct care for patients of all ages in the SHMG Clinic to include, but not limited to, assessing vital functions, assisting Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers by performing venipuncture and basic lab tests, administering medications, and maintaining sample drugs. May perform administrative duties as required to include coding, billing and front-office functions.

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Graduate or Equivalent Must be a “Certified” Medical Assistant (CMA) – a graduate of a Medical Assistant program that awards certification and/or credentials by examination. Southeast Health recognizes and accepts the following credentials for CMA applicants:

  • RMA – Registered Medical Assistant

  • AMT – American Medical Technologist

  • CMA – Certified Medical Assistant

  • AAMA – American Association of Medical Assistants

  • CCMA – Clinical Medical Assistant

  • NHA – National Healthcareer Association

  • NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant

  • NCCT – National Center for Competency Testing

  • NRCMA – Nationally Certified Medical Assistant

Successful completion of Southeast Health pharmacology exam BCLS certification (current) Medical office experience preferred

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both in writing and orally Ability to effectively communicate in an emergency situation

SKILLS:

  • Basic typing skills Computer literacy in Windows based programs preferred

  • Effective telephone techniques Ability to operate business machines to include fax and copier

  • Manual dexterity
