POSITION: Fitness Instructors

DUTIES: Instructs participants of all levels, in the correct application of class skills.

Assures the safety of all participants at all times. Performs a safety check of equipment prior to use.

Supervises and controls the general conduct of all participants.

Encourages and enforces Recreation Center and class protocol, reporting violations and requesting supervisor support as necessary.

Coordinates and implements class schedules as agreed upon with their supervisor, including starting and ending classes on time. Cooperates and assists with class/program evaluation/survey.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Level 1 (minimum required) - Instructor Assistant Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have CPR and First Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain within six (6) months. Must be able to performs physical duties as required, i.e., program set up, general class preparation, program equipment maintenance, and lifting at least 50 lbs., etc. Must have the ability to communicate well orally and in writing. Must be able to work will with other instructors, the community, and other co-workers. Must have a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Level 2 (minimum qualifications plus) - Instructor Apprentice One year group led supervisory experience preferred. Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision. Must have a class certification approved by the Recreation Supervisor/Aquatics.

Level 3 (minimum qualifications and second level plus) - Journey-level Instructor Two year group led exercise supervisory experience preferred. Must have multiple class certifications and teach at least three different classes.

Level 4 (all previous qualifications, plus) - Advanced Instructor Must teach at least 5 different classes. Possession of advanced certification i.e., nationally accredited personal trainer certification, is preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform movements including but not limited to: bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, carrying, grasping, and turning objects. May be asked to stand, sit, walk, or run for up to 60 minutes at a time. Must have the ability to communication both orally and in writing.

WAGE: Level One $14.42 Level Two $16.00 Level Three $18.00-$25.00 Level Four $25.00-$30.00

SHIFTS: Part time, flexible and various days and hours, will discuss during interview.
