CITY OF CORTEZ Community Services Officer in CORTEZ, Colorado

Community Services Officer

Duties: Patrols City and enforces parking regulations. Is responsible for the traffic control devices and their upkeep.

Patrols City and receives citizens complaints in regard to violations of municipal ordinances regarding inoperable vehicles parked on City streets and on private property. Also handles all paperwork associated with inoperable vehicle cases.

Prepares and files 307 appraisal forms with the State of Colorado on all unclaimed vehicles that have been towed by the Cortez Police Department.

Assists patrol officers with traffic control during on-street traffic accident investigations. Assists with traffic control for funeral escorts and is available for traffic control during community parades and other events.

Testifies in Municipal court on misdemeanor cases.

Receives subpoenas from Municipal Court. Organizes and makes arrangements for service of municipal subpoenas after hours. Serves subpoenas during business hours.

Handles walk in VIN inspections at the Police Department along with scheduling and performing certified VIN's. Assists other City Departments with jobs such as graffiti removal on City buildings and assisting the City Clerk with Liquor License applications.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills: Have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form. Ability to build a good working relationship with Cortez merchants, the general public, co-workers, and others contacted in the course of work. Must have the ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and be able to determine the necessary action.

Other requirements: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent & possess a valid Colorado driver's license.

Wage: $16.25-$25.70

Shift: This is a full time position, 40 hours per week.
