The Principal Engineer is a senior contributor within the Engineering team who takes the lead in high-impact technical projects, including the design, development, and implementation of key systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides oversight, coaching and guidance for engineering through code and design reviews

• Exemplifies technical leadership, defining patterns and operational guidelines for their domain(s)

• Plays a key role in defining the company's multi-year tech strategy and roadmap

• Plans and delivers complex, multi-team or long-term projects, overseeing all aspects from design through implementation through operation

• Creates company-wide engineering impact, drive foundational work benefiting engineering overall

• Develops and provides technical standards and guidance in all software design and development

• Coordinates communication among team & stakeholders, collaborates with coworkers across the organization to document and design systems

• Contributes to external engineering branding

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field of specialization preferred

• A minimum of 2 years' experience as a senior engineer in a similar environment

• Deep hands-on technical expertise in a large-scale systems engineering in a multi-tiered, distributed environment

• Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms

• Strong understanding of performance, memory, and I/O

• Extensive knowledge of engineering processes, structural design, and system optimization

• Strong organizational, time management, analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills; Proficiency in the English language is required

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science or related technical field

• Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one major technically challenging area, for example building complex distributed systems or building large scale networking software systems

• 10+ years of relevant, broad engineering experience

• Experience leading the delivery of APIs and SDKs

• Experience leading the delivery of Applications, ideally large-scale distributed systems

• Experience in building Software-as-a-Service
