The Configuration Management and Data Management (CMDM) organization is responsible for ensuring our products are under configuration control and delivered on time. The CMDM Organization consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices, and our customers.

The Sensors, Surveillance & Space Configuration Management department is looking for an individual to perform the role of a Section Leader – Sr Manager.

This position is on site in Aurora, Colorado.

The Section Leader has strong influential communication and leadership skills, with the ability to develop solutions to complex problems. The Section Leader engages with all Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads for assigned programs to ensure that Configuration Management is actively represented within the Product Lines.

What You Will Do:

  • Direct team members in industrial and process evaluation, improvement, and/or reengineering in support of Operations and Engineering activities

  • Assist in the development of action plans to address key engineering focus areas

  • Technically support program milestones and contribute to successful reviews and customer interchanges

  • Identify and elevate, when required, technical execution risks (includes technical discipline, technical performance, cost and schedule performance) to program and functional management

  • Meet the team’s committed schedule, cost, and performance requirements

  • Use of common solutions, common hardware, modularity, and smart buyer techniques in the design/development process

  • Provide program and functional management insight into the health of the team’s technical execution

  • Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Conduct performance/career development discussions, including plans for employee improvement.

  • Coach and mentor, technically and personally, to ensure employee success.

  • Create a diverse and inclusive team environment.

  • Effective communication with the team and across the organization

  • Define team manpower through active engagement in the Estimate and Complete (EAC) process and communicate those needs effectively to management.

  • Leading proposal efforts for section.

  • Ensures the team understands and follows proper company media.

  • Collaborate with multiple layers of Leadership on goals initiatives and targets, ensuring alignment of their section.

  • Create innovate solutions for customer and company initiatives.

  • Recognize and provide appropriate team and individual rewards and recognition.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 8 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) tools

  • Experience with leadership projects

  • Experience with government standards and processes, such as described in EIA-649, Configuration Management Standard

  • Experience with generating Configuration Management productivity metrics and reports

  • Experience with estimating, proposing, and managing configuration management cost and schedule on a program

  • Experience with aligning workload forecasting to staffing

  • Experience with Proposals

  • Experience with Estimate at Completes (EACs)

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
