Job Description

The Post IFC Project Engineer (Post PE) leads the fabrication/construction and installation program support, including As-building and project close out. The Post PE will coordinate all communication with the client, fabrication and construction teams, and any engineering /design support needed to address project RFIs, material shorts, and ensure the design is implemented as intended. They are responsible for maintaining the Post IFC project budget and schedule along with HSE, Quality, Risk Management, Management of Change and Project Controls Interface.

Responsibilities

HSE Management:

  • Ensure HSE has the highest priority in all activities undertaken by engineering and design personnel.

  • Ensure that Technical Integrity and Safety in Design are not being compromised to meet schedule.

  • Ensure that the design can be safely constructed, commissioned, operated, maintained, decommissioned, and abandoned/demolished.

Project Delivery and Communication:

  • Work with the Program Manager, Manager of Engineering and Lead Engineers to coordinate project resources to address the post-IFC project activities.

  • Provide leadership, direction/motivation, guidance, and project vision (which is derived from the Program Manager, client, and contract documents) to the team.

  • Coordinate with Project team at IFC to clarify project objectives and technical scope to assure project meets client expectations.

  • Develops the Post-IFC Support Execution Plan and update said plan when project conditions warrant.

  • Coordinate with project lead engineers to maintain the integrity/quality of the engineering/design while addressing questions and collaborating with the fabrication/construction and installation teams.

  • Plan and coordinate multi-discipline engineering activities including resolution of multidiscipline technical issues and single discipline technical issues that have the potential to impact overall project progress.

  • Maintain effective communication and coordination between the client, the design team, and fabrication/install teams to ensure timeliness and accuracy of information transfer and decisions.

  • Manage project interfaces, ensuring the timely transfer of information and documentation.

  • Coordinate and integrate multidiscipline engineering, procurement, and construction to ensure RFIs/Technical queries and any deliverables (drawings redlines, MR revisions, etc.) are complete, accurate, and delivered in a timely manner.

  • Manages the initial researching of lessons learned and promotes the ongoing capture of new lessons learned during the project.

Quality:

  • Assists the Program Manager in implementing EMS, WPMP and the NANA Worley QMS processes and procedures on the project. Defines customer satisfaction criteria with the Program Manager and reviews these throughout the life of the project.

  • Assure checking is complete in accordance with NANA Worley procedures.

  • Identifies change in scope, schedule, budget, resources that warrants Management of Change.

  • Through the Lead Discipline Engineers, works to ensure quality of the engineering work is maintained.

  • Closes out the project and ensures the documentation is archived as required by the Operating Manual, PEP and contract.

Management of Change (MoC):

  • Manages change including coordination of the completion of MOC documentation with the disciplines and ensures scope, cost and schedule impacts are documented.

Project Controls Interface:

  • Ensures documentation of the cost-of-service estimate and develops the schedule with project team and Project Manager.

  • Establishes and implements the project controls plan as agreed with the Project Manager in cooperation with project controls and the disciplines.

  • Reports on project progress at regular intervals as defined in the PEP reporting including input to the Monthly Project report and reviews.

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ work experience in an engineering/design discipline

  • 5 years of working experience in a project team environment for an engineering firm.

  • 2 years of experience in the hydrocarbon industry or mining industry.

  • Ability to travel to Fabrication / Field sites (<25%)

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • 4 years of engineering/design and/or fabrication/construction experience on Alaska North Slope Oil/Gas or Arctic Mine Projects.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals and reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, Inspectors, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and client.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret engineering and design drawings.

Computer Skills:

Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory responsibilities, works independently but reports into the Procurement Group for client / contractual reporting. Works collaboratively with Engineering, Project Management and Quality.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients, or employees of organization.
